Eric Douglas Melton

Eric Douglas Melton, 73, of Statesville, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 4, 2017 from his home. He was born on February 23, 1943 in Gaston County to the late William Melton and Pearl Whitman Pope. Also preceding him in death was his step-father, Lyle Pope and a brother, Terry Melton. Eric attended Iredell-Statesville Schools. He worked in logging and textiles until total disability. He is survived by his soul mate Barbara A. Ladd, of 23 years and members of her family. He is also survived by three sons: Duane Melton, Doug Melton (Tammy) and Steve Melton, along with grandchildren: Nicole Padgett (Chris), Casey Melton(Heather), Alexus Melton and Hunter Melton. Surviving also is one precious great grandchild, Korie Melton.   Also surviving are three brothers: Ted Melton, Mike Pope (Kathy) and Ray Pope. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 Tuesday February 7, 2017 at Nicholson Funeral Home with Rev. Mitchell Rash and Ike Branham officiating. Burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Active Pallbearers will be: Casey Melton, Hunter Melton, Chris Padgett, Danny Fisher, Brandon Johnson and Dale Rankin.
