Elmer Williamson Estes, 88, of Statesville, passed away Tuesday December 30, 2014 at the Gordon Hospice House. He was born in Iredell County on June 21, 1926 to the late Ernest L. and Lottie Messick Estes. Mr. Estes attended Iredell County Schools and was married to Nancy Stewart Estes, who preceded him in death on July 18, 1994. He was a long distance truck driver and had worked for over 20 years for P.S. West Construction. He was a member of Marvin United Methodist Church. He is survived by two sons, Joe Stephens Estes (Bonnie) and Stewart Craig Estes (Susan); a daughter, Lee Ann Bettis (Don); two grandsons, Wesley Dean Smith and Thomas Jordan Estes; three granddaughters, Courtney Leeann Kimmer, Corrie Howell, and Rosalie Howell; two great grandsons, Hunter Tomlin and Liam Smith; and three brothers, Homer, Marvin, and Herman Estes. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, January 2, 2015 at Marvin United Methodist Church with Rev. Naomi King and Rev. Ron Setzer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will visit with friends at the church from 10:00 until 11:00 prior to the service.
