Mrs. Elizabeth Barber "Boots" Cashion, 84, of Statesville, passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at Statesville Place. Mrs. Cashion was born August 26, 1927 in Clover, S.C. and was the daughter of the late Jay Osmond Barber and Winnie Sifford Barber. She attended Clover, S.C. schools and Erskine College. On June 26, 1948 she was married to James Thomas "Jim" Cashion, who preceded her in death on March 5, 2006. She was a member of First A.R.P. Church where she was a member of the Marshburn Sunday school class, the Tuesday morning church circle and had been honored with a lifetime membership pin and was a Woman of the Year at the church. Mrs. Cashion was also a member of a woman's sorority. She enjoyed playing bridge, line dancing and talking on the telephone with her friends and family. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and will be remembered for her kind disposition and gentle spirit. Mrs. Cashion is survived by two sons, Robert "Bob" Barber Cashion and wife Jan, and James "Jim" Thomas Cashion, Jr. and wife Susan, along with one daughter, Julia Cashion Johnson and husband Steve, all of Statesville. She is further survived by two grandchildren, James Thomas "Jamie" Cashion and wife Lamenda and Melinda Cashion Childress and husband John along with two great-granddaughters, Anna Cashion and Addison Childress, all of Statesville. One sister, Dorothy Jay Bonds of Monks Corner, S.C. also survives. A memorial celebration service will be conducted 11:00 am Friday, January 13, 2012 at First A.R.P. Church with Rev. Robert Sherer officiating. Burial in Oakwood Cemetery will be prior to the service hour. The family will be assembled at their respective homes but will visit with friends in the church fellowship hall following the memorial services.
