Eileen (Lenoir) Millsaps

Eileen Agnes Lenoir Millsaps, 70, of Statesville, was called home to the Lord in the presence of her family on Saturday, August 12, 2017. Eileen was born January 22, 1947 in Belcourt, North Dakota and is survived by her husband of 46 years, David Millsaps.  In addition to her husband David, she is survived by her son, Jeffrey Lynn Millsaps; her daughter, Monica Millsaps Martinez and husband Christopher; two granddaughters, Scarlett Lenoir Martinez and Harper Drew Martinez; four sisters, Dorie Navin, Hellen Sweeny, Donna Marciano, and Theresa Warren; and two brothers, Wallace Lenoir, and James Lenoir. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Patricia Lenoir and Beatrice Lenoir, and three brothers, Edward, Richard, and Steven Lenoir. Eileen was a devout Catholic and a longtime parishioner at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church. With great compassion, she placed the care and needs of others before her own. She had a special kinship with her two granddaughters and relished the time she was able to spend with them. Eileen had a tremendous passion for fishing, especially in the nearby mountains of North Carolina, where she routinely out-fished her husband David. Eileen also cherished the family tradition of baking together at Christmas and other holidays. A Rosary will be held at 5:15 pm and Visitation will follow from 6:00-8:00 pm on August 18, 2017 at Nicholson Funeral Home in Statesville. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on August 19, 2017 at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, with Rev. Father Thomas J. Kessler officiating. Rite of Committal will immediately follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
