Edward Anthony Zumbach, 63, of Statesville, passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at the Gordon Hospice House.
Mr. Zumbach was born in Victorville, CA on May 30, 1955 and was the son of the late Cletus Anthony Zumbach and Ann Marie Hassa. He was a graduate of Lake Elsinore High School and he was a veteran of the U.S. Navy for 10 years and following his active duty, he continued to serve in the civil service for the military for an additional 10 years.
On April 12, 1974, he married Betty Gray Zumbach and together they shared 45 years before his passing.
He worked as a firefighter along with working with the Long Beach Ship Yard where he painted ships for the military before his health no longer allowed him to work.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson Jeffrey Zumbach.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Zumbach is survived by two sons, Jeff Zumbach of Statesville and Kenny Zumbach of Salisbury. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Kyle Zumbach of the home, Katie Zumbach of Troutman and Brandon Zumbach of Salisbury along with four sisters, Loretta Beers and Debbie Brown, both of Reno, NV and Linda Chestnut and Patsy Martin, both of Lake Elsinore, CA.
A celebration of life service honoring the life of Edward Zumbach will be held on Friday, May 17, 2019 at Southside Baptist Church, 525 S. Broad Street, Mooresville, NC 28115 with Pastor Frank Turner officiating. The family will visit with friends Thursday evening, May 16 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Nicholson Funeral Home.
