Edgar Franklin “Ed” Barnette, Jr. died Thursday, May 9, 2019 at Wake Forest Medical Center.
Ed was born October 20, 1952 in Iredell county to the late Edgar F. Barnette, Sr. and Emma Fern Henderson Barnette. He was also preceded in death by a brother; Donald Barnette, and 2 sisters; Chubby Barnette and Sandra Millsaps.
Ed graduated from North Iredell High School and had been a warehouse manager for Southeastern Concrete. He loved his family especially spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Two things he enjoyed most were his Harley Davidson and his John Deere tractor.
On May 2, 1971 Ed married Barbara “Cricket” Anderson Barnette, who survives. He is also survived by 2 sons; Eddie Barnette, III and wife Heather, Shane Barnette and wife Erica, 5 grandchildren; Jayme, Kaitlyn, Dylan, Kylie and Gavin Barnette, 3 great-grandchildren; Rylee and Tucker Wireman and Emma Solis-Barnette, a sister; Shara McDaniel, 3 brothers; Michael Barnette, Robert Barnette and Roger Barnette, along with several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, May 13, 2019 at 6:00 pm at South River Baptist Church with Dr. Chris Thompson officiating. The family will greet friends immediately following the service.
The family requests that no flowers be sent but instead memorials be given to the Gordon Hospice House, 2347 Simonton Rd., Statesville, NC 28625. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.nicholsonfunerals.com . Nicholson Funeral Home is serving the Barnette family.
