Doyle Woodrow Levan

Mr. Doyle Woodrow Levan, 89, of Statesville, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday morning, November 14, 2017 at The Gardens of Statesville. Born June 15, 1928 in Statesville, NC he was the son of the late Jay Bryant Levan and Della Goodin Levan. He was a graduate of Statesville City Schools and on April 21, 1951 was married to Jelene Wyatt Levan, who died October 26, 2012. Doyle served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from J.C. Penney Warehouse after 25 years and he was associated in sales with the Life of Virginia Insurance Co. He was a member of Beulah Baptist Church and the West Iredell Lions Club and was an ancient, free and accepted Mason. Doyle is survived by one son, Keith Levan (Gina) of Statesville; two daughters, Denise Bentley (Steven) of Vilas, NC, Sherrie Landavazo (Manny) of Ladera Ranch, CA; four grandchildren, Byron M. Levan of Raleigh, Blaire Whitaker (Chris) of Mocksville, Tracy Shinn (Alechia) of Weaverville, NC Joshua Holdenreid of Washington, DC; five great grandchildren, Garrett, Audrey and Bentley Whitaker, Mattie and Eli Shinn and a special dear friend, Lois Sharpe. A memorial service will be held 2:00p.m. Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Beulah Baptist Church with Rev. Henry Cook and Rev. Robert Garrett officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood cemetery.
