Dortha "Dottie" Deal Brown

Mrs. Dortha “Dottie” Deal Brown, 74, of Statesville, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at the Gordon Hospice House.
Mrs. Brown was born in Iredell County on March 31, 1944 to the late Elmer “E.D.” Durant Deal and Sarah Elizabeth Cline Deal. She was a graduate of Celeste Henkel School Class of ’62 and on June 17, 1962, she married Charles A. “Charlie” Brown, and together they shared 48 years of marriage until his death on August 31, 2010.
Prior to her retirement, she worked at K-Mart in customer service. Mrs. Brown was a life-long member of Beulah Baptist Church.
Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by five sisters, Frances Shoemaker (Oscar), Arlene Russell (Frank), Grace Myers (Ralph), Dora Lee Combs (Ramsey), and Nancy Deal (Lamar) along with two brothers, Henry Deal and Elmer Deal (Betty).
She is survived by three daughters, Charlene B. Clower (James), Leslie B. Avery (Matthew) and Crystal B. Dobson (Thomas, Jr.) all of Statesville and one son, Joe Brown (Shellie) of Stony Point. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Travis Clower, Tony Clower (Jennifer), Nicole Bliss (John), Jeremiah Avery (Jessica), Eryk Dobson, Courtney Brown and Paul Brown along with three great-grandchildren, J.J. Avery and Asher and Aimek Clower. She is also survived by one brother, Gene Deal (Jewel) of Greensboro, one sister, Linda King (Bill) of Lenoir, and a sister-in-law, Phyllis Deal of Statesville. A host of nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services honoring the life of Dottie Brown will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, March 31, 2019 at Beulah Baptist Church with Rev. Brian Burgess officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will visit with friends Sunday afternoon from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the church. The family will be assembled at other times at the home of Dottie Brown. Active pallbearers will be Travis and Tony Clower, Jeremiah Avery, Eryk Dobson, Paul, Josh, and Mike Brown and Robbie Troutman. Honorary pallbearers will be Nicole Bliss and Courtney Brown.
