Dorothy "Dot" Woods

Mrs. Dorothy Hager Woods, 94, of Statesville, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2014, at Brian Center in Statesville. Mrs. Woods was born in Iredell County on June 14, 1919, and was the daughter of the late Eugene Sherrill Hager, Sr. and Connie Martin Hager. She was a graduate of Iredell County schools and on February 22, 1947, she married Gordon Gentry Woods, who preceded her in death in 1994. Mrs. Woods was a retired assistant floor manager with Statesville Sports Wear and was a member of the Senior Citizens. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Claude Hager, Phipps Hager and Vance Hager along with three sisters, Blanche H. Sherrill, Anne Jean Barren and Ruby H. Cauthen. Mrs. Woods is survived by one son, Dennis Lane Woods (Anna) and one granddaughter, Charly Lane Woods-Tabak (Eric), both of California along with one brother, Eugene Hager, Jr., of Scotts, NC A graveside funeral service for Mrs. Woods will be conducted 11:30 am Friday, February 7, 2014, in the Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Pastor Steve Snipes officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday morning from 10:00 until 11:00 am at Nicholson Funeral Home. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Oakland Presbyterian Church, 531 N Oakland Ave, Statesville, NC 28677.
