Dorothy Nicholson

Mrs. Dorothy Annah Chatham Nicholson, 81, of Union Grove, N.C. passed away Monday, February 13, 2012, at her residence. Mrs. Nicholson was born November 20, 1930 in Wilkes County and was the daughter of the late Pete and Nancy J. Chatham. She attended Iredell County schools and on July 31, 1948 she married Troy C. Nicholson, who survives. Mrs. Nicholson was a member of Grassy Knob Baptist Church and she was a homemaker. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Nicholson was also preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy J. Nicholson. Along with her husband, Troy, Mrs. Nicholson is also survived by three sons, Allen Nicholson (Lavonda) of Statesville, Audie Nicholson (Sophie) and David Nicholson (Carol), both of Union Grove and one daughter, Sue N. Brinkley (Wayne) of Bakersville, N.C. She is further survived by one brother, Bill Chatham of Union Grove. Eleven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Nicholson will be conducted at 2:00 pm Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at Grassy Knob Baptist Church with Rev. Phil Branton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will visit with friends immediately following the services in the church fellowship hall.
