Dorothy Brown-Newton, 52, of Statesville, died Monday, January 2, 2023, at Iredell Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Brooklyn, New York on November 27, 1970, to the late James Brown and Shirley Montgomery Brown. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Latichisa Brown.
Dorothy was an author and recently got her degree. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was the heart of her family and will be greatly missed.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Rodger Newton, children, Deriazsha, Jaquayn, Derrick, Jasmine, Rodger Jr., Jaden, Jahzier, son-in-law, Charlie, siblings, Sabrina, Celeste, Antannette, James, Robert, Christopher, Dashaun, grandchildren, Jaidah, Christian, Chloe, Jamari, Jaquayn Jr., Kali’Rose, Jaliah, Ryleigh, Kendall, Kaylee, Jordyn, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, January 7, 2023, at 1:00 pm in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel. The family will greet friends following the service.
