Dorothy “Nanny Dot” Juanita Bost Ottone, age 88, of Statesville, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, August 19, 2022, at her home. She was born on September 23, 1933, in Iredell County and was the daughter of the late William Preston and Lizzie Estelle Weston Bost.
Mrs. Ottone was employed with Bell South from September of 1951. Bell South then changed their name to AT&T where she worked in Statesville for 36 years and then transferred to Newton for almost 6 years. Mrs. Ottone and her late husband, John both retired on December 31, 1994.
“Nanny Dot” whom was known by many, never met a stranger. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend who had a passion for sending cards and coloring pictures for just about everyone she knew. “Nanny Dot” was also known for her famous macaroni & cheese.
In addition to her parents, William Preston Bost and Lizzie Estelle Weston Bost, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Joseph Ottone, Sr.; sons, Daniel Ottone and John Joseph Ottone, Jr.; grandson, Ethan Aaron Ottone; and 11 siblings.
Those left to cherish her memory include her two sons, Anthony “Tony” Ottone, Sr. (Alice), and Timothy “Tim” Ottone (Carla); daughter, Sherry Sells (David); her 10 grandchildren, John M. Ottone (Jessica), Bryan C. Ottone, Anthony L. Ottone, Jr. (April), Jonathon D. Sells (Janna), Joshua K. Ottone (Tiffany), Jessica O. Wooten, Brittany S. Boggs (James), Nicholas R. Ottone (Erica), Matthews L. Sells, and Natalie A. Ottone; her 19 great-grandchildren, Kyah, Caspian, Cierra, Joseph, Ella, Landon, Austin, Adalyn, Charlie, Trenton, Zaylee, Zyler, Zayda, Zyla, Zola, Allie, Colton, Jagger and Hayven; four great-great grandchildren; her brother, Rayford Bost; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm, Wednesday, August 24, 2022, at Nicholson Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Nicholson Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Pharr officiating. A graveside service will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens.
Honoring “Nanny Dot” as pallbearers are her grandsons, John M. Ottone, Bryan C. Ottone, Anthony L. Ottone, Jr., Jonathon D. Sells, Joshua K. Ottone, Nicholas R. Ottone, and Matthew L. Sells.
