Dorothy (Graham) Mayhew

October 13, 1931 — March 7, 2017

Mrs. Dorothy Graham Mayhew, 85, of Statesville, died Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at the Gordon Hospice House. Mrs. Mayhew was born in Rowan County on October 13, 1931, and was the daughter of the late John Carlton Graham and Mary Brotherton Graham.  She graduated from Cleveland High School.  On July 25, 1953, she married Roy J. Mayhew, who preceded her in death on August 19, 2015. She was retired from Wachovia Bank and was also a member of Covenant ARP Statesville. Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Bradford and Juanita Graham and one brother, Buford Graham. Left to cherish her memory is her son, Mike Mayhew (Jane) of Huntersville and her daughter, Debbie Oliver (Marty) of Mint Hill, SC.  She is also survived by three granddaughters, Lindsey Oliver of Wilmington, Lauren Hartis (Steven) of Charlotte and Kristen Spain (Jeremy) and their daughter, Layla Spain of Cary, NC. and her sister, Joyce Fesperman of Cleveland, NC. Funeral services for Dorothy Mayhew will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, March 10, 2017, at Covenant ARP Church with Rev. Jeffrey Jacobs officiating.  Burial will follow in the Cleveland Town Cemetery in Cleveland, NC.  The family will visit with friends this evening from 6:30 until 8:00 PM at Nicholson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Covenant ARP Church, 120 N. Greenbriar Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
