Mrs. Dorothy Helen Williams Link, passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2014, at Iredell Memorial Hospital from complications related to COPD. She was born in North Iredell on August 19, 1927 to Everette and Emma Williams and was the sixth of seven children. � Mrs. Link graduated from Union Grove High School in 1944 and on October 20, 1944, married her high school sweetheart, John David Link who survives. She is also survived by her daughters, Monita Link Peck (Bill) of Winston-Salem and Dianne Link Glover (Danny) of Durham along with two grandsons, Danny Glover, Jr. (Meredith) of Elizabeth City and Greg Glover (Hayden) of Myrtle Beach, S.C. and four great grandchildren: Link, Rebekah, Dylan and Bentley. She is also survived by one sister, Nell Loftin of Troutman and one brother, Edwin (Buddy) Williams of San Diego, Calif. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Weisner and Steele Williams and two sisters, Wilma Weatherman and Thelma Sloan. Mrs. Link lived in the Statesville area all of her adult life and retired from Hunt Manufacturing Company in 1990 after 32 years of service. She was an active member of the American Business Women's Auxiliary for many years and served as an Iredell Memorial Hospital volunteer after her retirement. She served on the board of the Department Of Social Services as a gubernatorial appointee for six years. She enjoyed her garden in the summer and especially enjoyed sharing tomatoes and green beans with neighbors. She always had a positive outlook on life and a mischievous twinkle in her eye. She was also active in her Sunday School class and her senior citizens group. She will be missed by all who knew her and loved her. Services celebrating her life will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday at South River Baptist Church with Dr. Chris Thompson and Rev. Larry Whicker officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church and burial will follow in the New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery. For those who prefer, memorials may be given to South River Baptist Church Missions Fund, 2659 S. Chipley Ford Rd. Statesville, N.C. 28625 or to the N.C. Division Of Services For The Blind 2601 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, N.C. 27699-2601 Condolences may be sent online to the family to www.nicholsonfunerals.com .
