2 August 1940 - 13 June 2011 With a free and carefree spirit, Dorothy Lee Gill Goolsby sought adventure. Soon after graduating from Scott's High School in Statesville, N.C., Dorothy set out on a journey that would eventually take her to the nation's capital. There, she met and married her life partner of 44 years, James Early Goolsby. Together, Dorothy and James shared untold simple pleasures, a host of close friends, and a love of animals. After settling into a successful career as an office manager, she enjoyed a peaceful retirement before enduring heart ailments and a battle with Dementia. Dorothy, the daughter of Dorcas Gill and Thomas Grady of Statesville, was one of four children and is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. Her siblings include Thomas Grady Gill Jr., Barbara Williams of Statesville and Mary Elizabeth Abernathy (Deceased) of Newburn N.C. � Visitation is set for Sunday, June 19, 2011 7pm to 9pm at Nicholson Funeral Home and a graveside ceremony in Oakwood Cemetery is planned for 2:00 pm Monday, June 20, 2011 with Pastor Tom Corbell officiating.
