Dorothy Taylor Galliher

November 22, 1930 — February 9, 2019

Dorothy Taylor Galliher, 88, of Statesville, died Saturday at the Gordon Hospice House. Born in Iredell County on November 22, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Everette Taylor and Katie Compton Taylor.

Mrs. Galliher was a member of South River Baptist Church. She enjoyed knitting, gardening and reading. She also enjoyed camping, time with her family and gospel music. She was a faithfull, loving and committed mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother.  She taught Sunday school for many years at Calvary Community Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Gilbert Galliher. She retired from King’s Department Store as a department manager.

Survivors include her children: Ann Gettys, Kathy Johnson (Randy), and Gilbert Randall Galliher (Mary). Also surviving are a brother, James Taylor (Vivian), 15 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Lastly, she is survived by her two beloved cats, Sox and Gray.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at South River Baptist Church with Dr. Chris Thompson officiating. She will lie in state at the church for thirty minutes prior to the service and burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends this evening (Monday) at Nicholson Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.
