Dorisia “Doris” Green Burks of Statesville, NC was called home on August 12, 2022 where she was greeted by her Husband Edward Burks. She was born January 30, 1933, in WV., to the late Clinton and Geneva Green.

She leaves behind her love of reading as it was instilled in all of her children and grandchildren. Also, her love of travel having not left the state of WV until she was in the 8th grade. She made up for it by traveling to all the lower 48 states and Alaska. She also traveled through Canada and to France.
Although Mom didn’t grow up playing sports, she dearly loved them. She would tell you she spent more time at practices and games than anything else she did, having four boys who played any and all sports. She was an avid college sports fan and loved her some UNC basketball. Well, actually she loved all sports and would watch on TV if it was on.
Mothers of sons earn a special place in Heaven and Mom really earned hers the hard way sending all four into the Military. One in each Branch of Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force. She was equally proud of us and stayed neutral on which one was the best by not picking sides. But if you ask us, it was the one that we served in.
Mom was a stay-at-home Mom and ran a home Day Care. Sometimes it feels like she kept and loved on half of the children in Iredell County.
Those left to cherish her memory are her Sons, David (Margaret) from Bennettsville SC, Adrian (Amye) of Statesville NC, Eric (Genet) of Statesville NC and Daughter-in-love Jackie Mccoy Burks of Statesville NC, One Brother Vernon (Avanell) Green, Harmony NC and a Sister Erma Woods, Candler NC of She also leaves behind 10 Grandchildren, 18 great Grandchildren and numerous Nieces and Nephews.
