Doris Ann Miller Nixon, 77, of Troutman, passed away Thursday, November 3, 2016 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. She was born on March 12, 1939 in Iredell County to the late Colon Guy and Eunice Wilson Miller. Doris was a graduate of Shepherds School and on October 13, 1956, she married William Wayne Nixon who preceded her in death on January 26, 2015. They shared over 58 years of marriage before his passing. She was a homemaker who loved her family and was a loyal member of Mt. Mourne Church of God. Doris dedicated her life to her church and her family. Along with her parents and husband, Wayne; she was preceded in death by an infant son, William Worth Nixon; one brother, Colon Paul Miller; and one sister, Wilma Overcash. Left to cherish her memory are three daughters, Debbie N. Bass (Kenny) of Troutman, Gail N. Jones (Billy), Joan N. McCord of Wilkesboro; a son, Phillip Wayne Nixon; a granddaughter, Anna Elaine McCord of Wilkesboro; two grandsons, William Buford Nixon of Love Valley, and William Andrew Jones of Troutman; a great grandson, Connor Kelis of Love Valley; and two sisters, Harriet Souther and Barbara Waugh. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Sunday, November 6, 2016 at Mt. Mourne Church of God with Rev. Donald Caldwell, Rev. Lawrence Owenby, and Rev. J.C. Souther officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Michael Cemetery in Troutman. The family will visit with friends Saturday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Nicholson Funeral Home.
