� Mrs. Doris Geraldine Readling Goforth, 93, of Statesville, passed away Sunday, April 27, 2014, at Maple Leaf Health Care in Statesville. Mrs. Goforth was born in Mecklenburg County on April 3, 1921, and was the daughter of the late James Butler Readling and Minnie Readling. She attended Mecklenburg County schools and on August 24, 1941, she married John Frank Goforth, who preceded her in death on January 22, 2003. Mrs. Goforth was retired from Iredell Memorial Hospital following 37 years of service as a secretary clerk in the admitting office. She was a member of Christ Boulevard United Methodist Church and a member of the Statesville Elk Lodge Auxiliary. In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Goforth was also preceded in death by one daughter, June Goforth Hankins, one grandson, Philip Morgan Goforth. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Buddy, Leary, and Skinner Readling along with two sisters, Mabel Chapman and Annabelle Nance. She is survived by son, Steven Curtis Goforth (Nancy) of Statesville, one grandson, Rev. John Curtis Goforth (Jennifer) of Asheville, NC and one granddaughter, Grayson Hankins. She is also survived by two great granddaughters, Cora Estelle Goforth and Lylah Sarah Goforth. Funeral services for Mrs. Goforth will be conducted 4:00 PM Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at Christ Boulevard UMC with Rev. Ron Doub officiating. The family will visit with friends from 3:00 until 4:00 pm at the church. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Christ Boulevard UMC, 1947 E.
