Donnie Sanford Wagoner

Donnie Sanford Wagoner, 60, of Statesville, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Iredell Memorial Hospital.  He was born on September 14, 1954 in Surry County to the late Harvie Sanford and Betty Jean Ledbetter Wagoner. Donnie was a graduate of Wilkes County Schools and on January 6, 1979 he married Faye Holyfield Wagoner.  They had over 36 years of marriage. He is survived by his wife Faye; son Josh Wagoner (Michelle); and five grandchildren, Gabe, Piper, Eli, Sunshine, and Enoch Wagoner, all of Statesville.  Donnie will also surely be missed by his loving companions Max, Sammy, Shad, and Blackie, who he adopted from rescue. Donnie’s other survivors include a sister, Joan Luffman (Billy) of State Road and nieces Ashley Campbell of Greensboro and Whitney Luffman of Raleigh, brother Greg Wagoner (Michelle) and niece Courtney Wagoner, and brother Todd Wagoner (Susan) and nieces, Kaitland and Noel Wagoner, all of Elkin. Donnie’s life will be celebrated by a Memorial Service to be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at South River Baptist Church, 2659 Chipley Ford Road, Statesville, NC with  Dr. Chris Thompson and Rev. Joe Dellinger officiating.  Burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the Wagoner family requests instead a memorial to one of Donnie’s favorite organizations:  Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County, Humane Society of Iredell County or a Hospice or Animal Rescue organization of your choice.  Online condolences may be made to www.nicholsonfunerals.com and Nicholson Funeral Home is serving the family.
