Donald Jeffrey Wilson Jr

Donald Jeffrey “Jeff” Wilson, Jr, 44, of Linwood, formerly of Statesville, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at his home.
Jeff was born in Statesville on June 25, 1974 and was the son of Donald Jeffrey Wilson, Sr and Patricia Whitesides Wilson. He was a graduate of Statesville High School and he attended Oakdale Baptist Church in Spencer.
Jeff was disability retired but his working career spanned 27 years in motorsports. He worked as an engine builder most recently with Joey Arrington Motorsports and prior to that he worked with Junior Johnson Motorsports.
Jeff was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather D.H. Wilson and maternal grandparents Thurils and Gladys Epley Whitesides and a number of aunts and uncles.
Left to cherish his memory in addition to his parents are his brother Cody Wilson and Cody’s daughter Ivy of Lansing, MI, and paternal grandmother, Lovella Davis of Statesville. He is also survived by two aunts, Kerri Holt (Darren) and Debbie White, both of Statesville along with two uncles, Cecil Whiteside (Lori) of Statesville and Larry Whitesides (Brenda) of Troutman. Two cousins, Haley Holt and Melissa Webster, both of Statesville as well as a number of extended family also survive.
A celebration of life service will be conducted at 6:00 PM Sunday, May 5, 2019 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. J.B. Parker, Jr. officiating. The family will visit with friends from 4:30 until 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
