Donald “Donnie” Parks Wilcox, 72, of Statesville, passed away Saturday, August 27, 2016 at his residence. He was born in Iredell county to the late Charles M. Wilcox and Daisy Elliott Wilcox. Donnie was a graduate of Scotts High School and was married to Doris James Wilcox on October 7, 1965. They shared over 50 years of marriage before his passing. He worked for Intercraft for 23 years and retired from Amesbury Group in 2007. Donnie was a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church where he was serving as a Deacon. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Dale Wilcox and Larry Wilcox, and a sister, Kathy W. Beckham. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Doris; two daughters, Wendy W. Pierce (Tim) and Carol W. Sherrill (Jim); a son Kevin R. Wilcox (Anna); a grandson, Jay Sherrill; three granddaughters, Erin Sherrill, Makinley Wilcox, and Maisy Wilcox; three brothers, Tony Wilcox (Fern), Cecil Wilcox (Jan), and Ken Wilcox (Tammy); and four sisters, Geraldine Justice, Margie Tyson, Sylvia Albea (Dewayne), and Susie Miller (Jody). He is further survived by a brother-in-law, Robert James (Linda), two sister-in- laws, Julia Stikeleather (Dale) and Norma James; along with numerous nieces and nephews and a large extended family. Funeral services for Mr. Wilcox will be held 3:00 pm Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at Holly Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Cliff Gwaltney officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
