Donald Jay Antisdel, 69, of Olin, passed away Thursday, December 25, 2014, at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Mr. Antisdel was born in Niles, MI on November 23, 1945, and was the son of the late Lyle Antisdel and Jean Antisdel. He was a graduate of Maynard Evans High School in Orlando, Florida. Mr. Antisdel was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Though he had various occupations throughout his life, his role as a firefighter for the City of Orlando and for Walt Disney World were among his favorites. He also had a love for automobiles and owned the Forest Heights 76 service station and garage for several years. Don enjoyed life. His joy came from helping others. He loved working outdoors and most of all, he loved and adored his grandchildren. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Greg Antisdel (Stacey) of Mooresville and Kim Jones (Randy) of Statesville along with three granddaughters, Ashley Gibson, Lauren Antisdel, and Emily Antisdel and one grandson, Carter Antisdel. He is also survived by a sister, Cindy Lawing (David) and a brother, Bill Antisdel. His former wife and lifelong friend, Cheryl Antisdel also survives. A graveside service with full military honors will be conducted 1:00 PM Monday, December 29, 2014, in the VA National Cemetery in Salisbury, NC with Pastor Rick Carney officiating. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to The Cove Church.
