Dewey O'Neal Gilleland

Mr. Dewey O’Neal Gilleland, 85, of Statesville, passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at the Sherrills Ford Hospice.
Mr. Gilleland was born in Iredell County on October 27, 1934 and was the son of the late George Dewey Gilleland and Zula Troutman Gilleland. He attended Iredell County Schools and he was married to Mary Pearl Fox Gilleland who preceded him in death in July of 1998.
Mr. Gilleland served his country proudly with the U.S. Army.
Mr. Gilleland worked for over 25 years with J.C. Steele & Sons before retiring in 1998.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Arlene Gilleland and a brother, Max Gilleland.
Mr. Gilleland is survived by one son, Gary Gilleland (Annette) of Statesville and two great-grandchildren, Kara and Bella Lynn.
Funeral services for Mr. Gilleland will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday, January 24, 2020 at Damascus Baptist Church with Rev. Dale Wallace officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Iredell Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends this evening (Thursday) from 6:30 until 8:00 PM at Nicholson Funeral Home.
