On Saturday morning, August 13, 2016, Dennis Gary Morrison began eternity with his Lord, joining his mother, father, brother, and brother-in-law. He was born in Iredell County on January 24, 1948 to the late John Henry Ford Morrison, Sr. and Lois Joyner Morrison. Dennis was a graduate of Celeste Henkel High School and attended UNC-Charlotte where he studied art and photography. He served his country honorably in the Army during the Vietnam War. He was disability retired from his service to our country. Dennis will always be remembered and loved by his family for his love of telling jokes, making others smile, helping you with technology, loving music and art, and helping others. He will be missed by all that knew him. He is survived by his loving family, two sisters, Glenda Summers (Bill) of Statesville and Kathi Kestler (Rob) of Centennial, CO; sister-in-law, Dianne Morrison of Statesville; three nieces, Kim Whitener (Virgil), Carolyn Lamberth (Gabe), and Laurie Reavis (Allen); four nephews, Ricky Wooten (Pam), Randy Wooten (Michelle), Kevin Kestler (Christie), and Michael Morrison (Roxanne); and many great and great great nieces and nephews that he loved like his own. A Memorial Service with military honors will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church with Rev. Rob Kestler officiating. A private family burial will be held at a later date. The family will visit with friends following the service and at other times they will gather at the home of Glenda Summers, 164 Stevenson Farm Road, Statesville.
