Dennis Wayne McCall, 66, of Cleveland, NC, passed away Friday, November 1, 2013 at his home. Mr. McCall was born in Walhalla, SC on November 23, 1946 and he was the son of the late Ralph M. and Nellie Addis McCall. He was a graduate of Cool Springs High School and he attended Catawba Tech. Mr. McCall was a veteran of the U.S. Army of which he was proud to serve his country. On July 2, 1972, he married Judy Ann Thompson McCall, who survives. Mr. McCall was a member of Elmwood UMC and there he served as a trustee for the church and he retired from Carolina Mills as a foreman in the spinning dept. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. A man that was proud of his family, he served them faithfully and lovingly. He loved his Lord and lived his life to honor Him by helping others who were in need; all for the Glory of God. He loved to fish and shared his passion for fishing with his grandchildren, Nahla and "his little man" Jayden Mills. In addition to his parents, Mr. McCall was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Anslee S. Greer. Mr. McCall is survived by his wife of 41 years, Judy Ann Thompson McCall of the home, two daughters, Ann Elizabeth "Betsy" McCall of Cleveland, NC and Lisa McCall Greer (Brett) of Matthews, NC. his grandchildren of which he was so proud, Nahla Mills, his fishing buddy and Jayden Mills, his little man.�� He is also survived by two sisters, Janice Hindman (Don) of Lynchburg, VA and Debbi Youland (Ken) of Rifle, CO and one brother, Jerry McCall (Helen) of Walhalla, SC; two brother-in-laws, Mike Thompson (Linda) and Eddie Thompson (Dana), all of Cleveland, NC. Numerous nieces, nephews, a host of beloved friends and church family and his beloved and loyal pets, Roxie and Karma, also survive. Funeral services for Mr. McCall will be conducted 11:00 am Monday, November 4, 2013, in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ruth Atkinson officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in the Oakwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Sunday evening from 6:30 until 8:00 pm at the funeral home. The family requests memorials be made to the Elmwood UMC, 3233 Salisbury Hwy, Statesville, NC 28625 or to the charity of the donor's choice.
