Dennis Richard Hartness, 59, of Statesville, passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. He had a two-year struggle with an undiagnosed illness, and then a stroke, his battle for life was finally over. Dennis was born March 2, 1956 in Iredell County and was the son of Richard Alexander Hartness and Carole Moose Hartness. He was a graduate of South Iredell High School, Mitchell Community College, and Caldwell Community College. Dennis enjoyed his work at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center as an X-Ray Technician and had many friends there. He will be missed by his co-workers. He was a member of Western Avenue Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Richard and Carole of Statesville, he is survived by three brothers, David Hartness, Tony Hartness, and Barry Hartness; a niece, Bethany Hartness-Smith (Chris); and a nephew, Benjamin Hartness. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, February 25, 2016 at Western Avenue Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Jeff Spry officiating. The family will visit with friends prior to the service from 1:00 until 2:00 pm at the church. Burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
