Darlene Hughes Gardner

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Darlene Hughes Gardner, who departed this life on January 27, 2025, at the age of 67. Born on June 26, 1957, in Davidson County, North Carolina, Darlene's journey came to a gentle end in Randolph County, North Carolina, surrounded by the love of her family.

Darlene dedicated much of her professional life to the furniture industry, contributing her skills and dedication to the field. Beyond her work, she found immense joy and peace in nature walks, particularly at Uwharrie, and cherished every opportunity to spend time in the great outdoors. Her love for nature was only surpassed by her devotion to her family and her faith.

A member of the Full Gospel Free Will Holiness Church, Darlene’s spirit was rooted in her deep faith, which provided comfort and guidance throughout her life. She will be remembered for her kindness, her unwavering strength, and her deep love for those around her.

Darlene is lovingly remembered by her children: Sandra Dragon (Chris), Misty Mitchell (Andy II), and Dusty Hughes (Alicia). She leaves behind a cherished legacy in her eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Her sister, Vickie Young, also survives her, along with numerous extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

She is preceded in death by her beloved father, Glover Hughes, mother, June Pope, and brother, Dean Hughes, who now welcome her into eternal rest.

A memorial service to honor Darlene’s life will be held on Friday, January 31, 2025, at 6 p.m. at the Full Gospel Free Will Holiness Church.
