Mr. Dale Hugh Fowler, 70, of Statesville, passed away Sunday, July 13, 2014, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Fowler was born in Waynesville, NC on May 4, 1944, and was the son of the late Algie McKay Fowler and Lucille Fowler Clenny. He was a graduate of Savannah High School and received his Bachelor's Degree from Florida International University. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served as a military police officer. On July 9, 1967, he married the former Gilda Gordon, who survives. Mr. Fowler was employed with the N.C. Dept of Commerce, Div. of Workforce Solutions where he worked as an Employment Consultant. Mr. Fowler was a man who enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Johnny McKay Fowler. In addition to his wife of 47 years, Gilda Fowler, he is survived by one daughter, Dina F. Chamberlain (married to Darin Chamberlain), one son, Sean Fowler, and one granddaughter, Bailey Chamberlain, all of Statesville, and one sister, Mazie Jean Griffin of Mars Hill, NC. Graveside funeral services for Mr. Fowler will be conducted at 10:00 AM Saturday, July 19, 2014, in Oakwood Cemetery with Rev. David Gay officiating. Online condolences can be made to the family at
