Craig Pennell

Craig Eugene Pennell, 49, of Statesville, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2011, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center following a brief illness. Mr. Pennell was born January 18, 1962 in Iredell County and was the son of Atwell F. Pennell and Argell Cook Pennell of Hiddenite, N.C. He attended Alexander County schools. He was employed with Maymead as a construction worker. In addition to his parents, Mr. Pennell is survived by his girlfriend, Ida Gaither of Statesville; a brother, Michael Pennell (Angela) of Taylorsville; a sister, Penny Lambert (Kent) of Hiddenite; two nieces, Brittany and Samantha Lambert of Hiddenite, and one nephew, Brandon Pennell of Wilkesboro. He is further survived by a former sister-in-law, Melissa Pennell of Wilkesboro. Funeral services for Mr. Pennell will be conducted 3:00 pm Friday, September 23, 2011, at Rocky Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Henry Cook, Rev. Roger Holland and Rev. Mike Duncan officiating. Burial will follow in the Rocky Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Thursday evening from 6:30 until 8:00 pm at Nicholson Funeral Home.
