Craig Thomas Fortner passed away peacefully September 23, 2015 at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center. He was born at Iredell Memorial Hospital on February 21, 1962 and attended Statesville City Schools. In his 20s, he became a licensed electrician and wired many homes on Bald Head Island. Later in his life he attended CVCC and was successful in obtaining a Computer Engineering Degree and worked in Charlotte for North American Van Lines maintaining their computer systems. Craig loved the NC coast and spent as much time a possible catching saltwater fish. He is survived by his parents, Charles and Betty Fortner and his sisters, Barbara Saltz(Cam) and Alison Pigg(Mark), his daughter Lauren Wolfe and grandson, Anders. Also surviving are his nieces, Amanda Cline whom he taught to fish at a young age (Chris Onley and his great nephew Bentley Onley),and Taylor Pigg, whom he taught to search for arrowheads. Graveside services will be held at Oakwood Cemetery at 2:00pm Friday, September 25, 2015. The family requests no flowers or food, but only to keep them in your prayers. Nicholson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
