Mr. Clell Lee Brendle, 96, of Statesville, passed away Tuesday, March 07, 2017. Mr. Brendle was born November 11, 1920, in Forsyth County and was the son of the late William Thad Brendle and Ila Willard Brendle. He was a graduate of Statesville High School and Aircraft School in Bristol, TN. He served in the US Army during WWII as a staff sergeant and on July 20, 1946, was married to the late Marie L. Brendle. He was a member of First Baptist Church, where he was a youth teacher, usher and Boy Scout leader. He worked for Carolina Motor Company for over 20 years and was retired from Johnson Auto Parts as a sales manager. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, reading, traveling, gardening and his family. He is survived by one son, Ralph Noble Brendle, and wife, Libba, of Spartanburg, SC; three grandsons, Jonathan Chad Brendle, Brad Lee Brendle, and wife, Becca, and Matthew Lauryns Brendle, and wife, Alice; one step-grandson, Philip Lowe, and wife, Adrienne; one step-granddaughter, Brady Lowe Cutler, and husband, Patrick; four great-grandchildren, Cora Ann Brendle, Samuel Beau Brendle, Nade Calmes Brendle, and Hugo Brendle-Colin; and four step-great-grandchildren, Boyd Cadet Lowe, Oliver Cannon Lowe, Earl Patrick Cutler III, and Mae Breeden Cutler. He is also survived by two brothers, Paul Brendle, and wife, Shirley, of Cleveland, NC, and Jim Brendle of Statesville, NC, one sister, Lucille Brown, of Statesville, NC, two nieces, six nephews, seven great-nieces, and six great-nephews. The family would like to thank Kelley Steele and Marcia Zuzul for the kindness and care they gave to Mr. Brendle for many years.  Their dedication to his well-being was extraordinary and truly appreciated by his family. Memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625; or First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 146, Statesville, NC 28687. Graveside funeral services will be held Tuesday March 14, 2017, at 2:00 PM at Oakwood Cemetery, 114 North Oakwood Drive, Statesville, NC 28677, with Dr.  Nelson Granade, Jr.  officiating.  Arrangements for Mr. Brendle are in the care of Nicholson Funeral Home.
