Clarence Jackson (Jack) Shoemaker

Mr. Clarence Jackson “Jack” Shoemaker, 81, of Taylorsville and formerly of Deaton Street in Statesville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, September 10, 2017. Jack was born in Iredell County on December 27, 1935, and was the son of the late Nellie Forsythe Shoemaker. He was a graduate of Iredell County schools and he was a member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Hickory. Jack retired from Thomasville Furniture following 35 plus years of service. He was a man who loved the Lord.  He loved to witness and share his testimony for what Jesus had done for him and what He could do for others. Left to cherish his memory are three daughters, Pam Cody (Bill) of Taylorsville, Teresa Hawkins (Jim) of Newton, and Cathy Laughlin of Gaffney, SC., along with seven grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren. A memorial service honoring the life of Jack Shoemaker will be conducted at 1:00 PM Saturday, September 16, 2017, at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, 1560 Nathanial St. Newton, NC 28658.  The family will visit with friends for thirty minutes prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Catawba Regional Hospice Foundation, 3975 Robinson Rd. Newton, NC 28658 or to the Hurricanes Harvey and Irma Relief Funds, c\o www.redcross.org/donate/disaster-relief .
