Christopher David “Chris” Mauney, 54, of Statesville, died unexpectedly on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at his home.

Chris was born in Iredell County on August 8, 1964 and was the son of the late Charles Mauney and Georgia Durbin Mauney.  He was a graduate of South Iredell High School and he was married to Rita Mayberry Mauney, who survives.

Chris loved music.  He enjoyed attending concerts with his friends.  He loved sports and was an avid Raiders and N.C. State fan.  He also had a passion for the beach as well as going to the mountains.  With all the enjoyments he had in his life, nothing compared to the love he had for his wife Rita, son Brandon and daughter-in-law Christen Crouch and his twin grandchildren, grandson Dempsey and granddaughter Sullivan Crouch, all of whom he leaves behind.  He also leaves behind his beloved K-9 companion, Sophie.  He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
