Charles Albert Sinquefield, of Winston-Salem, passed away Monday, November 10, 2014 at the age of 101, at Trinity Ridge in Hickory, NC. Mr. Sinquefield was born December 17, 1912 in Lake City Florida to the late Thomas Clyde and Katherine Patrick Sinquefield, and had a sister Mary Katherine, who passed away in 1918. Mr. Sinquefield graduated from Georgia Tech in 1937 and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He served during World War II in the South Pacific. After his return he remained in the Army Reserve until 1965 with a rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He was then employed by the Briggs-Shaffner Company as a mechanical engineer and later he was the owner of Presco Company. On June 19, 1939, he married Helen Prater Sinquefield, who passed away in 1994. In addition to his parents, wife and sister he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Frank Shook. Mr. Sinquefield is survived by his daughter, Ann Shook of Statesville, and two grandsons, Craig Shook (Lori) of Atlanta, Ga, Steve Shook (Teresa) of Statesville. He is further survived by two great-grandchildren, Amelie Shook and Mack Shook, as well as his long-time special friend Mary Cecil Price of Winston-Salem.
