Mr. Cecil M. Mayberry, 83, passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at Valley Nursing Home in Taylorsville.
Born on September 5, 1935 in Iredell County, he was the son to the late Charles Capp and Bessie Reavis Mayberry. Cecil was of the Christian faith and a 1954 graduated from Scotts High School where he was varsity letterman in all school sports. He was a former Statesville Police and Correctional Officer, then he became a truck driver and drove for 32 years where he retired from Consolidate Freightways. Cecil loved his family and enjoyed the beach, playing golf, watching sports, especially the Carolina Tarheels basketball and Alabama Crimson Tide football. He was a former member of the Masonic Lodge of Statesville and the Teamsters Union.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Janice Stikeleather Mayberry; brother, Charles Mayberry; sisters, Sarah Mayberry, Beatrice Warren and Mildred Kale.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Bonnie Cecilia Mayberry, Mike Mayberry (Kim Markham), Gina Moore, Lisa (Gerald) Lippard and Karla Pharr all of Statesville and Rita Mauney of Troutman; grandchildren, Brandon (Cristen) Crouch, Heather Pharr, Jason (Amanda) Lippard, Jody (Chasity) Pharr, Heath Pharr and Kasey Pharr; 11 great-grandchildren, three nieces and one nephew.
Cecil’s wish was for a private family burial. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM Saturday.
