Mr. Cecil Monroe Bailey, 92, of Statesville, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at the Gordon Hospice House.
Mr. Bailey was born in Iredell County on July 6, 1927 and was the son of the late Walter Moore Bailey and Emma Lippard Bailey. He was a graduate of Cool Spring School class of ’44 and he served in the U.S. Army during WWII.
On August 27, 1951 he married Carolyn Moose Bailey who preceded him in death.
Mr. Bailey was a member of Wesley Memorial UMC.
Mr. Bailey was retired from J.C. Penney Warehouse following 44 years of service.
Left to cherish his memory is one son, Mark Bailey (Betty), seven grandchildren, Chris Bailey, Jr, Cami Cash, Eddie Wright (Amy), and Jennifer Wright (Darren), of Statesville, Michele Samples (Andy) of Cummings, GA, Amanda Harris (Billy) of Wilmington, NC and Farrah Bailey (Nathan) of Jacksonville, NC along with one brother, James Bailey of Virginia Beach, VA. He is also survived by 14 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral services honoring the life of Cecil Bailey will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 8, 2019 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Derrick Moose officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends this evening (Monday) at Nicholson Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
