Carolyn Elmina Staples Moose, 80, of Loray, N.C. passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at her home following a period of declining health. Mrs. Moose was born February 10, 1931 in Iredell County and was the daughter of the late Burrell H. Staples and Lucille Thompson Staples. She was a graduate of Scotts School and on May 17, 1951, she was married to Leroy (Cricket) Moose, Jr., who survives of the home. Mrs. Moose was retired from Sara Lee Apparels where she worked as a sewer and she was a life time member of Concord Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Moose was preceded in death by a son, Tim Moose and a brother, Lewis Staples. In addition to her husband, Leroy (Cricket) Moose, Jr., of the home, she is also survived by two daughters, Janet Goforth (Ron) of Claremont, N.C. and Debbie Fisher (Tim Starr) of Statesville. She is also survived by one grandson, Josh Fisher (Amanda) along with one great-grandson, Greyson Fisher, both of Statesville. She is further survived by one brother, Steve Staples of Statesville and two sisters, Margaret Ford of Troutman and Mary Wilson of VA. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Moose are scheduled for 3:30 pm Thursday, July 14, 2011 at Concord Presbyterian Church with Rev. Kyle Goodman officiating. The family will visit with friends from 2:30 until 3:30 pm at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
