Carolyn Loyd Alexander 84, of Harmony, died on January 5, 2020 at Iredell Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Iredell County on February 26, 1935 to the late John Loyd and Dottie Bowers Loyd. Carolyn was a homemaker and a poultry farmer. She served as a volunteer for many years at Matthew 25 Ministries. She served in the Ruritan and was named Ruritan of the year in 2001. She was a member of Harmony Baptist Church for many years where she was very active and was also an assistant Sunday School teacher for grades 3-5. She served on the Hospitality committee and was the key holder of Fort Knox. Carolyn was a wonderful and loving mother and grandmother who always enjoyed spending time with her family.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her late husband, Rufus Alexander of 31 years. Two sons, Jimmy Alexander and Wayne Mayberry.
She is survived and loved by her four sons, John (Colleen) Alexander, Brent (Anita) Alexander, Loyd Alexander all of Harmony and Allen Mayberry of Statesville; seven grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren and many other family members.
A service of Celebrate the life of Carolyn Alexander will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 12, 2020 at Harmony Baptist Church with Pastor Jacob Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Harmony Cemetery. Family will receive friends following the service at the Harmony Baptist Life Center.
