Mr. Carl King Thompson, 80, of Harmony, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at the Gordon Hospice House. Mr. Thompson was born in Bluefield, WV on May 30, 1933 and was the son of the late Charles G. Thompson and Esther Francisco Thompson. He attended high school in West Virginia and he was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Thompson was owner and operator of Carl's Bingo. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by several brothers. He is survived by his companion of 25 years, Lois Chastain Safrit, three sons, Carl Thompson, Jr., Scott Thompson, and Martin Thompson (Stacy) along with two step-sons, Michael Hinson and David Hinson (Frances) along with one step-daughter, Deb H. Julian (Butch). He is also survived by two brothers, Malcolm Thompson and Yule Thompson (Maxine) along with one sister, Eunice Barrett (Friday). He is further survived by four grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, two great grandchildren and one step-great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. There will be a private funeral service for Mr. Thompson at 3:00 PM Friday, April 25, 2014, in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel. A private burial will follow.
