Carl Teaster

Mr. Carl Rhyne Teaster, 66, of Pineville Rd., Statesville, passed away, Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010 at the Gordon Hospice House. Mr. Teaster was born Nov. 21, 1944 in Iredell County and was the son of the late Gothard Easly Teaster and Nell Benfield Teaster. He attended Iredell County Schools and on Oct. 7, 1944 was married to Barbara Ann Murdock Teaster, who survives of the home. Carl was a painter for a number of years before disability retiring and was a member of Eufola Baptist Church. In addition to his wife, Mr. Teaster is survived by two daughters, Joyce Teaster of the home, Jessica Christian (Joe) of Statesville, one grandson, Joseph Christian, four sisters, Hattie Fulton (Nathan), Mary Nell Pruitt, Martha Poole (Tony), Nancy Martin (Bill) and one brother, Harold Teaster (Naomi) all of Statesville. Mr. Teaster was preceded in death by one brother, David Teaster. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, Jan. 3, 2011 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Otis Johnson, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Michaels Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Nicholson Funeral Home.
