Carl William “Bill” Lett, 53, of Statesville, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 23, 2019 at his home.
Bill was born August 1, 1966 in Painesville, OH and was the son of Patricia Delores Foster Merrill and the late William George Lett. Bill was a graduate of Perry High School, and on September 24, 1994 he married Bonnie Jean Johnston Lett and together they shared 24 years of marriage until his passing.
Bill was employed with ProEdge Precision as a CNC machinist. He was a machinist for over 36 years and took great pride in his work.
Bill enjoyed racing, a hobby that started early in his life. His love for racing led him to driving and traveling in the vintage racers. He grew up racing in his hometown, where he was the former track champion at Painesville Speedway. After moving to North Carolina, he started driving at Hickory Motor Speedway, where he was also a former track champion. His love for racing was surpassed only by the love for his wife Bonnie and “his girls”. His relationship with his family was unshakable, and his passing will forever leave a void in their lives.
In addition to his mother, Patricia Merrill of Ellenton, FL and his wife Bonnie Lett, Bill is survived by “his girls”, Amber and Shelby Lett and his in-laws, Rex & Karen Johnston, all of Statesville.
The family will receive friends locally on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at the Nicholson Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. A service to celebrate the life of Bill Lett will be conducted at 1:00 PM Friday, August 30, 2019 in the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home, 368 Mentor Ave, Painesville, OH 44077.
