Carl Junior ("Junior") Nance

March 1, 1933 — July 20, 2015

Carl Junior Nance, 82, of Statesville, passed away Monday, July 20, 2015 at Iredell Memorial Hospital.  He was born in Iredell County on March 1, 1933 to the late Flake Lee and Ethel Wyatt Nance. Mr. Nance attended Cool Springs School and on September 12, 1953, he married the love of his life, Omie Mae Anderson Nance, and they shared 44 years together before her death on September 30, 1997.  He was a retired truck driver who had worked for Gilliam Furniture, Thomasville Furniture, and W.T. Burnett. Along with his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death a son, Harold Dean Nance and two grandsons, Shannon Nance and Randy Allen Nance.  He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth and Jerry Allen Nance and two sisters, Evelyn Philbeck and Ruby Parker. Left to cherish his memory three sons, Tommy Ray Nance (Lynn), Jimmy Ray Nance (Sandra), both of Statesville and Joe Allen Nance (Leah) of Denver, NC and one daughter, Linda Sue Nance Dyson (Stanley) of Statesville.  He is also survived by three brothers, David Nance (Glenda) of Harmony, Lewis Nance of Troutman, and Bobby Nance (Pearl) of Union Grove and two sisters, Shirley Maynard (Edgar) of Statesville, and Margaret Singleton (John) of Mocksville, and special friend Pat Stewart.  Fifteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mr. Nance will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, July 23, 2015, in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James McClain and Rev. William Wease officiating.  Burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery.  The family will visit with friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:30 PM at the funeral home.
