James H. “Buster” Foster, 92, died Saturday, June 22, 2019 in Palmer, Texas.
Buster was born in Iredell County on September 4, 1926 to the late Jack and Mollie “May” Foster. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Lucille Wall.
Buster was raised on a farm in Davie County and attended Cool Springs School. He proudly served his country with the US Navy during WWII in the Pacific. After returning from service he started his 45 year career in heavy construction, as an equipment operator on many jobs in North Carolina, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, New York, and the Virgin Islands. He was married to the late Claire Eleanor Cartner Foster; they settled in southern New Jersey, and shared 66 years of marriage prior to her death.
Those left to cherish his memory include a son; James R. Foster (Lisa) of Palmer, Texas, two grandsons; Clayton Foster and Bryce Foster, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; John and Jo Sees, of Advance, NC, Henry and Tommye Campbell, of Winston-Salem, NC, and Don Michael of GA.
Private services will be held for Buster.
