Broadus Blaine Wagner

Mr. Broadus Blaine (B.B.) Wagner, 84, of Statesville, died Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory. Born in Watauga County on June 8, 1930, he was a son of the late George Blair Wagner and Nancy Cheek Wagner. Mr. Wagner was a member, former Sunday School Teacher and usher for 60 years at Western Avenue Baptist Church. He graduated in 1949 from Harmony High School and served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He graduated United Electronic in Louisville, Kentucky and went into the TV Business in 1964. He was owner and operator of Wagner’s TV. He was a kind and gentle soul and always had a big smile and a hug and loved his church as well as gardening and working outside. He and his wife, also enjoyed the Dixie Wheelers Square Dance Group. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers: Amon Wagner, Dayton Wagner, Armond Wagner, Austin Wagner and Estes Wagner and sisters: Velma Wagner and Opal Foster. On December 15, 1951 he married the former Georgia Stewart who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Kim Wagner Walden (Darrell) of Statesville, two grandsons, Bradley C. Walden (DeeAnne) of Statesville and Bryan Chase Walden (Ashlyn) of Mooresville. Also surviving are great grandsons, Blaine Walden and Cole Michael Walden both of Statesville and Liam James Walden of Mooresville along with a sister, Ovanelle Corriher (Paul) of Statesville. Services celebrating B.B.’s life will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Western Avenue Baptist Church with Dr. James D. Cartin & Rev. Andy Lackey officiating. Entombment will follow with full military rites presented by the Iredell County Veterans Council Burial Detail at Iredell Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:30 until 3:00 P.M. Tuesday prior to the service. Active Pallbearers will be: Larry Wagner, Stuart Campbell, Howard Englebert, Donnie Poole, Benny Wilson, Kenny Meredith, Billy Ellenburg and Scott Wilson. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Members of the Kenny Morrison Sunday School Class. Condolences may be sent online to the family to www.nicholsonfunerals.com .
