Bobby Lee Starling, age 82, of Statesville, passed away Sunday, June 24, 2012. He was born February 22, 1930 in Maiden, NC to the late Thurmon Starling and Julia Williams (Barker). Mr. Starling was a graduate of Union Grove High School and attended North Carolina State University; he also served in the US Army as a medic during the Korean War. On January 22, 1960, he married Irene Gates Starling who survives. He was a member of Beulah Baptist Church and retired from Pneumafil Corporation, Charlotte NC, after 33 years; he was also a member of the Lions Club. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers Cecil and Dr. Charles Starling. In addition to his wife Irene, of 52 years, he is survived by one son, Bobby L. Starling, Jr., of Winston-Salem, NC and one Daughter, Melanie S. Massey (Husband Mike), of Albemarle, NC. He is also survived by two grandsons Patrick and Ryan Massey. He is further survived by one brother G.W. Williams (Wife Ruth), of Union Grove, NC and one sister, Mae Davis (Husband Homer), of Olin, NC. A graveside service for Mr. Starling will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday, June 28, 2012 at the Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery, 285 Mt. Hermon Rd., Statesville, with Rev. Henry Cook officiating. Full military honors will be provided. The family will receive friends following the service in the Beulah fellowship hall, 1851 Old Mountain Rd., Statesville, from Noon until 1:30. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Beulah Baptist Church 1851 Old Mountain Road, Statesville, NC 28677.
