Mr. Robert Charles "Bob" Champe, 74, of Statesville, passed away Sunday, January 25, 2015, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. Bob was born September 9, 1940, in Knoxville, TN and was the son of the late Charles Candell and Mary Roberta McReynolds Champe. He was a graduate of Knox County and received his AAS in Business from the University of Tennessee. Bob served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. On September 9, 1966, he married Virginia Cardwell Champe, who survives. In addition to his wife of 48 years, Virginia, he is survived by one daughter, Dr. Melissa Champe Seagle (Scott) of Advance, NC, one son, Brian Charles Champe (Candice) of Kernersville, NC and three granddaughters, Madeline Seagle of Advance and Caroline and Reagan Champe, both of Kernersville. He is also survived by a sister, Mary Roberta Doyle (David) of Conway, AR. Bob retired from Kraft Foods following 30 years of service. Bob was enthusiastic about learning and saw retirement as a time to pursue other interests, including part-time work in real estate, at Home Depot, and for H&R Block. He was also involved with the Homeowner's Association in the Fox Den community. In recent years, when Bob was not working in the yard or playing golf with Virginia, he could be found exercising at the Statesville Recreation Center. The family will be celebrating the life of Bob Champe on January 31 at Nicholson Funeral Home with Rev. Dave Cash officiating. Family and friends will be received from 2:00 until 3:00 with a service immediately following at 3:00 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel.
