Mr. Blake Stewart McNeely, 81, of Statesville, passed away on Monday, April 9, 2018 at Iredell Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. Born on October 24, 1936, he was a son of the late Hoyt W. McNeely and Maude Stewart McNeely. He was married to the former Peggy Watt who died on November 22, 2014.
He was a graduate of Celeste Henkel High School and proudly served his country in the U. S. Air Force. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post # 2031 of Statesville and of Bethlehem United Methodist Church.
In his early years, he worked for Holloway Construction of Wixom, Michigan. He was a construction superintendent for Curtin Brothers Construction at the time of his retirement.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Alan McNeely, a brother, Ronald McNeely, and a son-in-law, Arthur Brotherton.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Karen McNeely Brotherton (John Harmke), a grandson, James Blake Goss-Hammond (Matthew) and a brother, Lynn McNeely (Debbie), along with a daughter-in-law, Melissa Fox. Also, a special friend, Sue Campbell and numerous other family and friends.
Services celebrating Blake’s life will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Thursday at Nicholson Funeral Home with Rev. Olin Isenhour officiating. The family will greet friends following the service. Private burial will be in the Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery.
