Billy Ray Hartness

Billy Ray Hartness, 82, of Statesville, passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at Davis Regional Hospital.  He was born on June 18, 1935 in Iredell County to the late Edna Hartness Tapp. Bill attended Central High School and was a member of Rocky Hill Baptist Church.  He was married on April 4, 1955 to Nancy Duncan Hartness, who survives.  They shared over 62 years of marriage before his passing. Bill was a truck driver for McLean Trucking and was owner of Central Grocery and Mountain View Motors.  He loved his church and community. Bill Hartness was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many.  He will be dearly missed. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Nancy; son, Sandy Ray Hartness (Norma Jean); a daughter, Rebecca Millsaps (Tim); a grandson, Justin Hartness (Tristan), a granddaughter, Tressie Laws (Brandon); and four great grandchildren with another in the oven. Funeral services for Bill will be held 3:00 pm Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Rocky Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Henry Cook officiating.  The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service.
