Betty Shook

Mrs. Betty Helen Mason Shook, 79, of Statesville, passed away, Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. She was born in Iredell County on June 3, 1935 to the late Bud Wiley Mason and Ida Branton Mason. Betty attended Iredell County Schools and was married to Billy Dalton Shook who preceded her in death. She had worked for Wilson Security as a Security officer and was a member of Rocky Hill Baptist Church. Betty is survived by four children, Betty S. Nixon of Canton, NC, Terry S. Clark (Duane) of Statesville, Sandra D. Shook of Statesville, Norman E. Shook (Diane) of Statesville; nine grandchildren, Mickey Jordan, Bradley Stroud, Jr., Timothy Nixon, Jr., Shannon Shook, Cameron Shook, Marshall Jordan, Tera Stroud, Jarrid Hoke, Tyler Johnson; six great grandchildren, Jake Gaither, Silas Shook, Alora Shook, Harper Shook, Payton Caudill, Mykah Jordan; four brothers, Bob Mason (Joyce), Bill Mason (Cheryl), Bryant Mason (Carol), Barry Mason (Randa); two sisters, Bessy Josey (Jim), Brenda Stone (Edsel) and one brother-in-law, Larry Stone. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Michael T. Jordan, one grandson, Matthew T. Jordan, two granddaughters, Terina J. Gaither, Amy Marie Nixon, one great grandson, Christopher Reid Caudill and one sister, Barbara M. Stone. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 31, 2014 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Mason and Rev. John Parks officiating. Burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Nicholson Funeral Home.
